One Child, One Tree
This innovative program aims to foster a deep connection between children and nature by offering complimentary native trees to parents or grandparents in Linn County.

Monarch Research has partnered with local HyVee stores and ImOn to provide parents and grandparents a free native tree for each child or grandchild, through our One Child, One TreeTM - Growing Together initiative. This innovative initiative aims to foster a deep connection between children and nature by offering complimentary native trees to parents and grandparents in Linn County.

PARENTS & GRANDPARENTS:
Whether you're a new or soon-to-be new parent or guardian, a "seasoned" parent, or a grandparent - this program is for you! The One Child One Tree program celebrates the bond between children and nature by providing a free native tree for every child in Linn County. Parents or Grandparents can choose a native tree for their child or grandchild to plant either at home, at a relative's home, or at a friend or neighbor's. Each tree becomes a living symbol of growth and resilience, standing tall as the child grows beside it. These trees not only enrich the environment but also create a lasting legacy, connecting families to the land and fostering a deeper appreciation for the beauty and importance of native trees.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will I get my tree?
All tree orders placed with the One Child, One Tree program will be available for pick up in October. Monarch Research will send additional information regarding tree pick up date, time, and location closer to October.
What if I don’t have a place to plant my tree?
We recognize that not all parents or grandparents will have a suitable location to plant a tree for their child or grandchild. We encourage Parents and Grandparents to seek out alternative planting locations, such as a relative's home, or at a friend or neighbor's home.
Can I order a tree for my older child or grandchild?
Yes! We want every child (under the age of 18) in Linn County to have their very own tree. Additional tree certificates may be picked up at participating HyVee stores and drugstores, or at ImOn Communications in downtown Cedar Rapids. Orders will need to be placed individually since the order form will only allow one tree selection per certificate.
Who pays for these trees?
The program is funded by an amazing group of community-minded individuals who have provided generous donations to Monarch Research. With their support, and the many volunteers who donate their time, we are able to help restore habitat and tree canopy in Linn County.
